Darn Rockies. All red-hot and all that. PS - have you seen the tearjerker story on the AA coach for the Rockies that was killed by the foul ball? I think his kids are throwing out the first pitch in Denver today. Real life tearjerker stuff. Will probably take some of the sting out of the Rockies closing it out this weekend...

Kris

Re: Tear Jerkers

Oh, yes, Pax! Peggy Sue!! HTat is a good one and I cry at the end. Also, the end of Pleasantville gets to me as well as the Wizard of Oz.

Re: Tear Jerkers

There is one scene in “Sandlot” of all baseball movies that gets me a little choked up. The boys are playing baseball under the illumination of 4th of July fireworks and Ray Charles is singing “America the Beautiful” in the background always brings tears to my eyes….just writing about it now is doing it. Oh to be young and want nothing more than to play baseball rather than watching fireworks (or keying cars). And it’s Ray singing that song that brings the hankie out.

Good luck to the Phillies please dispatch those pesky Rockies with all due speed as my Cubs do likewise with the Diamondbacks for the Cub/Phillies showdown…and then who do you root for??

Re: Tear Jerkers

Peggy Sue Got Married always leaves me a quivering mass of jelly - something about that movie, I cry like a baby by the end of it. Others that "get me" are The Fisher King, and of course, It's a Wonderful Life. I am such a sentimental fool.

As for the Phils; I'm gobsmacked! I hope they make it to the World Series, it will be so good for Philadelphia's bruised psyche.

Re: Tear Jerkers

I couldn't believe the Phillies made it!

My favorite tear jerking movie is Edward Scissorhands and The Color Purple.

Re: Tear Jerkers

The Natural is one of the best films of all time. It is a masterpiece.

Re: Tear Jerkers

Oh, Mark, yep, I guess I need that one too. I'm not a sports freak, so it's what's funny. But I do like baseball movies for some reason. Actually, I just love movies and I'm a bit of a sap, so the emotional ones get me there. ;-)

Jessica, I should do this list in long. It's a lot of movies. I laugh a lot, too, so a comedy list would be great. One that won't be on mine: Caddyshack. I know it's one that a lot of guys would list, but it's not for me.

Re: Tear Jerkers

I was sure you'd have Field of Dreams on there!

Re: Tear Jerkers

All great films. Have you done a comedy list? I'd like to see it if you have.
Was a cheerful day for the Phillies and fans yesterday!
